A BABY Fair held recently at Appleton Parish Hall has been hailed a resounding success by visitors and exhibitors.

The free community event promoted a host of support services run by small local businesses, aimed at new and expectant parents within South Warrington.

Over 80 people attended The South Warrington Baby Fair event, including parents-to-be, new parents and grandparents, with the youngest visitor being just two weeks old.

The hall was packed with over 18 varying different local businesses exhibiting at the fair, ranging from midwifery care, baby and toddler classes, women’s health and children’s physios, infant first aid, massage therapists, handmade baby clothes, sling library, baby photography, naming celebrant, maternal fitness.

“We were so thrilled at the turn out, our visitors were welcomed and fully informed of the array of services and support available for new families from pregnancy, postnatal and beyond.” Said Melanie Clough, Registered Midwife, owner of Mum’s the Word, and Co-organiser of the event.
Co-organiser, Susan Kemp and owner of Appleton Baby Massage added, “We were overwhelmed by the number of businesses that wanted to participate. This was such a tremendous opportunity for the providers to be together and meet so many new families in person, all in one place.”
A profit of £100 was made, from exhibitor contributions and the tea and cake stall, which visitors enjoyed. This is being donated to the Tommy’s Baby Charity, which funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.
The event was such a triumph, that there are already plans for another event.
