School media company goes public

A SCHOOL-based Warrington media company that has made a six-part soap opera and three feature length films is now offering its services to the public.
Red Rose Media has been part of Penketh Media and Visual Arts College since 2005. Following six years as an in-house service, it has launched publicly and is looking to produce work for external customers.
Media director Jonathon Kay said: “Something we never wanted to do was to launch the company half-heartedly, which is why we’ve waited until 2011 as we can be confident we’re building a business on solid foundations.
“In those six years between our creation and today we’ve certainly been active. There aren’t many media companies who can say they’ve made a six-part soap opera and three feature length films with another being released this year, been nominated for a national filming award, and held two film festivals.”
The company has also maintained and updated Penketh High School website, helped staff and pupils with presentations and projects and built-up a range of high tech media equipment.
The company also hires out facilities at competitive prices – including an Apple Mac suite and TV studio, a cinema room and a drama hall with a capacity of 200 people – based at the Penketh site.
Mr Kay added: “Our services are not just exclusive to large organisations. What makes us different is that we provide a variety of media services anyone would find useful.”
