WARRINGTON’S IKEA store was evacuated yesterday afternoon while firefighters dealt with a large leaking carbon dioxide cylinder.

At 16:30 two crews from Penketh and Warrington were called to the store at Europa Boulevard, Gemini Retail Park, Warrington, by staff who noticed a large carbon dioxide (CO) cylinder, used to carbonate soft drinks, was leaking.

As a precaution, the store was evacuated for a short time while crews removed the cylinder and placed it in the open air to allow the gas to vent safely.
