Power cut at Latchford and lorry breakdowns on M6 cause traffic delays across Warrington

THE combination of two lorries breaking down on the M6 near Warrington and a power cut at Latchford caused traffic delays across Warrington on Friday afternoon.

The power cut interfered with traffic signals in the Latchford area while an oil spillage from one of the broken-down lorries caused long delays on the M6 between junction 20-21 northbound.
The scene is now clear and all lanes have re-opened on the M6 although ong residual delays above normal travel times, please still allow extra time. Delays should start to clear soon.

Meanwhile SP Energy Networks issued a statement saying: “There is a power cut in the WA4 postcode area of Warrington, affecting properties in Slater Street, Dover Road and surrounding areas. “Restoration is taking longer than expected because of a fault on our underground cable network.
“Our engineers on site have confirmed additional time is needed for further investigations across a larger section of the network and our team are now working to get your electricity supply back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 5:45 PM. If this information changes we will update you where possible, we apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”

The delays impacted on bus services across Warrington.
