Fire crews help release barge stuck in tunnel on Bridgewater Canal

SIX fire crews were called out yesterday afternoon to help release a barge stuck in a tunnel on the Bridgewater Canal near Warrington.

Shortly before 3pm crews from Warrington, Runcorn, Frodsham, Widnes, Powey Lane and Chester were called out to reports of a barge stuck in Tunnel Top North, Preston Brook near Warrington

The crews used swift water gear to get to the barge, which was snagged underneath and released it.
There were no casualties at this incident. Canal and River Trust also attended the incident.
