Community storage plan for former garden centre site

A PLAN to create a community storage facility on a former garden centre site is to be put to planning chiefs at Warrington.

The scheme has been put forward at the White Moss Garden Centre in South Lane, Cuerdley. A number of small storage units would be provided on the site.

An earlier application for a commercial storage facility was turned down by Warrington Borough Council.
The applicant arranged for large steel containers to be removed from the site

But a number of local residents had come forward and suggested that a small, community facility would be useful, involving smaller, community units.
The applicant – who had already tidied up the site following illegal waste tipping by the public – now believed a community facility as suggested by residents, would be beneficial to the local community.
Architects representing the applicant say it is important to recognise that the community use proposed would create less traffic and emissions than either the previous commercial containers or the garden centre storage buildings.
