Rowing club seeks additional storage facilities

COUNCILLORS at Warrington are being urged to approve a planning application for temporary storage accommodation at the town’s rowing club.

The proposal is for two storage containers and the retention of an existing container at Warrington Rowing Club, Howley Lane to provide additional storage accommodation for a period of three years. There have been no objections from nearby residents.

Members of Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee will be told tomorrow (Wednesday) that the rowing club, founded in 1985, is thriving, with a growing membership and is particularly active in providing sporting activities for young people through their Warrington Youth Rowing initiative, which is designed to introduce a wide range of young people to the sport.
This initiative employs two coaches and provides a service to local schools.
Planning officers are recommending the proposals are approved as a means of ensuring the club continues to grow and to give it time to secure funding for a more permanent solution.
