Students' recycled dress

STUDENTS from Warrington Collegiate are displaying their “recycled fashion” designs in Golden Square shopping centre.
As part of their courses the BTEC Level 2 and National Extended Diploma students have designed a range of clothing made from a variety of recycled products – including dresses made from CDs, crisp packets and even teddies.
The exhibition runs until Sunday, April 17 and is part of the “I’m Growing Up Green” campaign which aims to inspire young people to become more eco-aware.
Laura Dowell, Collegiate marketing manager, said: “Our students and staff strive to ensure that sustainability is at the heart of our work, which has led to us being nominated for a Green Hero Award in 2010.
“Our fashion and clothing students have been working to incorporate environmentally friendly textiles and recycled materials in all their work.”
Shopping centre marketing manager Ian Cox said: “As the largest centre for fashion in Warrington we are delighted to be able to support the ‘green fashion’ designs of Warrington Collegiate students through this eye-catching exhibition and hope that this will inspire young people to make a difference.
“We are asking shoppers and businesses to make a difference by turning down their heating and this display is a great way to creatively inspire our region’s young people to get involved with the campaign.”
