Latchford Albion appoint former player Adam Wood as assistant coach

LATCHFORD Albion has announced the appointment of Adam Wood, as the new Assistant Coach of the club.

The decision is a natural progression with Adam already assisting with the coaching setup, following two consecutive season-ending injuries preventing him from taking to the playing field.

Coach Martyn Ellis said: “Adam has been a great addition to the coaching staff. Although it was primarily due to injury that led to him to assist with the off-field aspects of the club, he has developed a great knowledge of how we want the club to progress, and is very detailed in how he transfers that message to the players. Being a former Junior of the club, you can see the respect the players show him, and it is exciting to see him step up to this new role ahead of the new season.”

Adam added: “Making the transition from player to coach has been a lot more difficult than I imagined, as I wanted to finish playing on my own terms, but injuries have really hampered me the last couple of seasons. Although coaching was never on my radar, I have been lucky to be invited to and work with some great coaches at the club, and the opportunity to become Assistant Coach was too good to pass up.
“I am looking forward to seeing myself develop further in this role, and the club is an exciting place to be. We have a fantastic set up, the facilities are some of the best around, which makes it much easier for coaching, and the team is certainly heading in the right direction. We are a very young squad and if I can pass on any of my experience onto them then I have done my job.”
The club is always looking for new members, both on and off the field. If interested please make contact. Email Andrew Rowlinson [email protected]
