Designing the perfect interior for your beauty salon

At beauty salons, beauty doesn’t stop at the treatments. It’s also important to integrate pretty aesthetics throughout your salon to put your customers at ease and add luxury elements if you want to attract a certain clientele.

Not only does it make your salon aesthetically pleasing, it is also a great opportunity to promote your brand. Here are just a few things to think about when designing your salon for the ultimate customer experience.

Take care of the basics

Avoid any nasty surprises by testing your salon’s water pressure as soon as possible. Contact your local water supplier to make sure your pressure is between 1.75-2.5.

Next, think about where you want to mount your dryers and processors. You will need a professional to advise you where it is safe to install your electrics. Think also about where to locate your wash areas so they are easily accessible from everywhere.

Make a statement on the high street

Your shop window is one of your best advertising tools, which is why it’s a good idea to invest time and money into making it look as good as possible. If you’re lucky enough to have big shop windows, this will not only flood the shop with natural light, but it also offers an opportunity to display your services and products to passers-by.

Use windows to display new acrylic nail sets, tanning accelerators, application products and whatever else you think your customers will be interested in.

Keep reception tidy

The reception desk is the first thing your customers will encounter and it sets the tone for the rest of the salon. Elevate the area with plinths of different floor levels before thinking about the colour and what you want your customers to feel when they’re in the space. Bright colours will make you seem more individual and quirkier whilst more neutral tones will create a more sophisticated atmosphere.

Most importantly, keep the mess at bay and make sure everything is neatly stowed away. You could also advertise some of your best-selling products in case customers have forgotten something they might need.

Buy quality salon furniture

Investing in quality salon furniture is always a good idea as it will last longer and inevitably be more comfortable for your customers. Seeing as much salon furniture like massage and pedicure chairs come with inbuilt technology and sometimes even plumbing, it’s a good idea to make sure all the mechanics work properly before buying. Check reviews and test out the furniture yourself if needs be.

Reduce fire risks by only buying furniture that meets the BS7176: Medium Hazard risk. This protects them against cigarettes and fires, ensuring that your salon is as safe as it can be.
