Town draw again!

WARRINGTON Town let a two goal lead slip as they were held 2-2 at Clitheroe in another disappointing draw – their 14th of the season!
Town got the best possible start as Chris Thompson slotted home from close range after 1 2minutes as Clitheroe failed to clear the danger after good work by Alan Collins.
Then Collins out jumped the advancing keeper to head home Warrington’s 2nd as he latched on to a long range clearance as Town dominated.
But Clitheroe pulled a goal back just three minutes later with their first real chance when Ashley Parillon rifled the ball home when he found himself unmarked in the box.
Collins had a great chance to put Town 3-1 up when he was through one on one with the keeper who saved well.
Warrington came out in the second half a pale shadow of their first half performance and it was no surprise when the home side drew level on 67 minutes through Jack Higgins as town again failed to clear the danger.
Town created few chances in the second half and indeed Clitheroe looked the more likely to grab the points as the game ended in a disappointing draw.
Warrington remain 6th in the table and visit 5th placed Curzon on Monday night with the 12 point gap between the two teams looking to be too much ground to make up, with just eight games remaining.

Town: Pritchard, Hibbert, Corrigan, T Hardwick, Tomlinson, Wright, Hamid,

Finley, Collins, Thompson, Gahgan (Davies, 46), subs not used: Salmon, Wade,

Heald, Jukes

  1. Makes you wonder if they are scared of promotion. VERY disappointing after the highs of playing exceedingly well against some of the top teams and thus raising expectations.
