Snow brings police warning as several road traffic collisions reported

SNOWFALL overnight led to difficult driving conditions this morning with police warning drivers to drive carefully following reports of several road traffic collisions across the town, with more snow forecast this afternoon.

They have taken several reports of drivers being involved in road traffic collisions due to the snow.

They warn that if you need to head out please remember to slow down and give yourself extra time to complete your journey.

Meanwhile, the snowfall gave a festive feel to the town with more forecast for later today, which could bring a real Dickensian feel to the Lymm Dickensian Day which takes place today, with the parade, subject to the weather conditions scheduled to start at 1.30pm.
A number of road closures are in force in the village.

The Met Office forecast for Warrington for the next four days:

Today:
A cold and locally icy start with wintry showers possible in places. Sunny spells developing for many with wintry showers becoming confined to coasts. Light winds but feeling cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:
Staying mostly dry overnight with clear spells. A few isolated wintry showers are possible. Turning very cold and frosty with mist and freezing fog forming in places. Minimum temperature -9 °C.

Sunday:
Mist and freezing fog slow to clear and possibly lingering all day in a few areas. Otherwise most places seeing some sunshine, but a low chance of a wintry flurry. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
Staying very cold with severe overnight frosts. Freezing fog patches on Monday and Tuesday, mostly lifting to brighter skies. Largely fine on Wednesday with sunny periods and isolated wintry showers.
