Man, 28, dies in crash

A 28-year-old man died in a road crash near Warrington this morning.
Wilton Lane, Culcheth, was closed to traffic following the crash shortly after 8am.
Fire crews were called to the scene as the occupants of two cars – a Ford Focus and a Renault Scenic – were feared trapped. Later it was confirmed that the Ford driver had died and that a 63-year-old woman in the Renault had suffered minor injuries. She was taken to hospital..
Emergency crews were working at the scene, clearing debris and re-directing traffic.
Wilton Lane has subsequently been re-opened to traffic.
