THE late Pete Postlethwaite has been remembered at a screening of his film “The Age of Stupid”.
Screened at Warrington’s Pyramid Arts Centre, as part of Climate Change week, the event was staged by Warrington Borough Council and Warrington Friends of the Earth.
Cllr Bob Barr, the borough council’s executive member for planning and regeneration, and the head of activism at Friends of the Earth, Neil Kingsnorth, gave the 93 strong audience an inspiring welcome to the event and paid tribute to Pete.
Other organisations such as Cheshire Wildlife Trust and Christian Aid provided information about the environmental work they do.
Energy saving light bulbs and water savers were given away and visitors helped the Fairtrade steering group decorate bunting that will go towards a national world record attempt.
David Boyer, the council’s assistant director of transport, engineering and climate change said: “The day was a great success and it was good to have the opportunity to recognise the work of Pete Postlethwaite who we know was so passionate about improving our environment.
“It’s really important to work closely with groups such as Friends of the Earth as they are critical in our plans to tackle climate change. I would like to thank them and everyone else who came along to show their support.”
