MEMBERS of Woolston & District WI have planted a tree in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II in her platinum Jubilee year.

On a pleasant sunny morning, the Ladies of Woolston and District WI, led by Chair Ann Brennan, met at the former New Cut Canal lock in Weir Lane in Woolston to plant a tree to commentate the life and work of the late Queen Elizabeth.

With the help of the New Cut and Ecology Trail group, they planted a young mountain ash at this popular local beauty spot. It is hoped that the tree will flourish there and be a constant reminder of our late Queen. Also in the photo is Lynda Eagan of the New Cut Group.
