Dog dies and person taken to hospital as fire crews and air ambulance called to collision on M62

UPDATED: A dog that ran onto the motorway has sadly died after fire crews and the air ambulance were called to a road traffic collision on the M62 at Warrington on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at 10:22 on the M62 eastbound, between junctions 10 and 11, Croft Interchange.

Fire crews from Birchwood, Warrington and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended at the scene following reports of one person trapped.
Police and paramedics attended and lanes 2 and 3 were closed while the incident was dealt with. The Air Ambulance was requested initially but then wasn’t required.

The incident involved two vehicles and a person was released and handed to the care of paramedics. Crews were at the incident for approximately 50 minutes.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 10.16 am on Sunday, November 27, officers were made aware of a minor collision on the M62 between junctions 10 and 11.
“The collision involved two cars, a white Peugeot panel van and white land rover, one of which is believed to have collided with a dog.
“One person was released by firefighters and taken to Warrington Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.”
