Traffic ban to tackle anti-social behaviour near cemetery

A traffic banning order is set to be introduced near the entrance to Fox Covert Cemetery at Hillcliffe, Appleton, from 8 pm-8 am to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to prohibit motor vehicles on Red Lane (in both directions) described as the turnaround area outside and adjacent to Lych Gate of Hill Cliffe Baptist Church.
The Order will be effective from 1st December 2022, between the hours of 8pm and 8am, as and when the signs are in place on site.
The restriction is required to prevent anti-social behaviour.

Police have been called to numerous incidents at the location over the years to deal with anti-social behaviour, including drug taking.
A temporary banning order has been in place which is now set to become permanent.
