A FAULT with a bedside light-fitting started a fire at a house in Orford, Warrington yesterday (Sunday).
The blaze involved a house in Orford Green and four fire engines from Warrington, Birchwood, Lymm and Penketh were sent to the scene.
Firefighters deployed rapidly with a hose reel jet and put out the blaze on the first floor. Other crew members, wearing breathing apparatus, searched the property and a ventilation unit was used to clear heavy smoke from the property.
Police controlled traffic in the road outside.
After an investigation revealed the cause was accidental, firefighters cleared debris from the bedroom and remained at the scene for a further hour to monitor temperatures.
No casualties were reported.
