End of the road for Hill Top Road light display but local children will still get Christmas cheer!

WHILE there will be no Christmas light display on Hill Top Road at Woolston this year – some local schools have been given some early Christmas cheer.

The impressive display has attracted admirers far and wide in recent years to view an amazing festive light show that has grown in recent years thanks to one of the residents who devoted much of his time and effort to create a street of light and wonder.

People travelled from far and wide to view the display and local roads were frequently filled by cars queueing to drive past the display.

Sadly, due to a number of reasons, the person responsible has decided that it’s time to call it a day but, even though the fantastic display on Hill Top Road brought so much pleasure, especially during periods of lockdown.

But much of the lighting and the wooden cartoon characters have been donated to local schools, a nursery and the Sensory Centre in Woolston where they will still spread happiness for the many children who attend them.

  1. A sad end of an era as the display has grown over the years but circumstances have dictated that it’s not really practical to continue. Great that many of the lights and characters have been passed on to continue to bring festive light and happiness to local schools and nurseries..
