Care home residents commemorate Remembrance Day

RESIDENTS of Westvale House care home, Old Hall, Warrington commemorated Remembrance Day along with the rest of the nation.

Poppies were worn, residents watched the televised service and some were taken to the local Cenotaph to pay their respects to members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty.
Local singer Joe Cocks dropped in to provide entertainment with wartime classics and activities co-ordinators dressed as Land Girls.

Resident Vera Rudd said: “It is very important that we keep alive the memories of those who fought and that we also think about those involved in conflicts around the world today.”
General manager Anna Paule said: “We have a number of residents with personal ties to the military, so it was important to us to making November 11 a special day for them and all our residents.”
Westvale House is one of more than 200 Barchester Healthcare homes across the UK that honoured members of the armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice.
