Tsunami appeal
ON the day after the Japanese earthquake disaster, a team from Radio Warrington were in the town centre raising money for the Tsunami Appeal. Mike Taylor and Paul Hughes, from the Morning Show, Phil Edwards and DJ Kenny raised more than £260 in eight hours in front of Warrington Market.

Hospital lottery
TWO winners shared the £191 jackpot prize in the weekly lottery run by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital. Winning numbers were 1,4,7 and 15. A £25 consolation prize went to a member of hospital staff.

General store
PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given retrospective permission for Elliot’s General Store, next door to the General Elliot pub at Croft.

Soul music
DJ Al Whitt will present an evening of soul music at the Alliance Centre, Norman Street, Warrington on Saturday, March 25.

Prison cameras
FOUR domed, pan,tilt and zoom security cameras can be mounted on 12 metre high poles at Risley Prison, planning bosses have agreed.

House refused
WARRINGTON planners have thrown out an application for permission to demolish Monk House, in Parkside Road, Winwick and replace it with a two storey house.
