A WARRINGTON firm has been ordered to pay £46,000 after being convicted of three breaches of planning regulations.
Caddicks Ltd, of Stockport Road, Thelwall denied two offences but pleaded guilty to a third.
They were convicted of all three and fined a total of £40,000, with £6,000 costs by Halton Magistrates.
After the hearing, John Groves, development services manager at Warrington Borough Council said: “The courts decision and the scale of the fine reflects the serious breach of planning control which has taken place here on green belt land.
“Tipping and the construction of buildings have taken place over several years contrary to the advice of our planning officers and despite unsuccessful attempts to secure planning permission via the council or on appeal.
“We hope that the size of the penalties handed out to the defendants will encourage those wishing to carry out development to talk to the council first to properly explore their options before starting work to save both time and resources on both sides.”
