A road closure will be in place for up to two days next week while demolition work continues on New Town House in the town centre.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which is to introduce a prohibition of driving on Buttermarket Street from its junction with Orford Street to its junction with Academy Street.
The Order will be effective from 6th November 2022 for 2 days, as and when signed on site.
Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Mersey Street, Bank Street and Academy Way and via Academy Street and Mersey Street. The closure is required to allow for the demolition of New Town House.

The site is set to become green space as part of a 900 apartments development on the Cockhedge site.
