PENKETH Library is set to reopen next Monday (Nov 7) following a £120,000 refurbishment with thanks to Warrington Borough Council’s library modernisation scheme.
Councillor Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for leisure and community, will carry out the formal reopening of the LiveWire-operated library building at 10 am on Monday 7th November. The renovation to the library, on Honiton Way, includes the redevelopment of the frontage, repairs to the external woodwork, and improvements to the internal decoration and shelving of the library.
The revamp provides more flexibility of space for library and community activities, including the new Jane Forshaw Community Room – named after a local library supporter and activist who was instrumental in forming and leading the Friends of Penketh Library before her passing in 2019.
The plans have been developed by Warrington Borough Council and LiveWire, which manages the library, together with Friends of Penketh library. The financial contribution made by Friends of Penketh Library has enabled us to refresh the children’s library as part of works at the site.
