Serenade says farewell after 25 years

AFTER 25 years of performing at many local events, singing a cappella and entertaining with interesting stories, choreographed moves and stylish costumes the ladies of Serenade are retiring.

They have proved popular at many events including Dickensian Day, the Arley Hall Flower and Carol Services and the Christmas Tree Festival. In addition, they have performed at numerous private functions, such as birthday and retirement parties, and for church and WI groups around the Warrington area, raising thousands of pounds for various charities at the same time.
Sadly the time has come to step back from public performances, but they will continue to sing, both for pleasure and for the well-known health benefits.

Leader Mary Clarke said “We’ve had some amazing experiences over the 25 years we’ve been together.  Four-part unaccompanied singing is extremely difficult and we feel it is time to hang up our pitch pipe and matching costumes, and do something easier.  We will carry on singing, but just for ourselves.”
