MANY people in Warrington may miss out on the chance to take part in the referendum on changes to the voting system for the UK Parliament.
Figures from the Office of National Statistics show there are 154,900 people registered to vote in Warrington – which means a considerable number are not.
Those who have not registered are being warned that unless they do so they will miss out on voting in the local elections and the referendum on Thursday May 5.
Warrington Council electoral services manager Alison Hughes said: “Anyone who has moved house in the past few months needs to register with their new address.
“We know there are people in the borough who have not yet registered to vote, which means they will be missing out unless they take action.”
Residents can request a registration form by calling electoral services on 01925 442184 or email [email protected] or print off a registration form from www.aboutmyvote.co.uk
These contact details can also be used by anyone wanting to vote by proxy or post.
The deadline for registration and for a postal vote is April 14, and the deadline for proxy applications is April 21.
