Road closure could be extended for up to five weeks for resurfacing works

HIGHWAY planners have extended a road closure notice at Lymm for a further five weeks as a precaution while resurfacing works take place.

It involves a section of road on Cherry Lane from its junction with Booths Lane and Booths Hill Road, which have been closed since the summer while cables were being laid for car charging points at Lymm Services. Access out of Lymm to the M6/M56 is available via Elm Tree Road.

Local Cllr Graham Gowland said: “It’s to be hoped the additional 5-week closure is not needed, but it’s sensible to put in a contingency plan. The works seem to be progressing but I know there’s plans to do some resurfacing as part of the project that may add to the timescales.”

Meanwhile, Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 1st September 2022. The effect of which is as follows: –
Temporary Prohibition of Driving: Cherry Lane from its junction with Booths Lane to its junction with Booths Hill Road.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (Various Roads) (Consolidation of One-Way Traffic) Order 1976 in so far as it relates to the Second Schedule as follows: Cherry Lane, Lymm (B5158) from Booths Hill Road (A56) to Elm Tree Road.
The Order was to be effective from 5th September 2022 for 7 weeks, however due to delays on site the restrictions are now required to remain in place for a further 5 weeks, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route and reason for the works remains the same as previously advertised.
