PLANS have been approved for an outdoor seating area at the front of a popular wine bar in London Road, Stockton Heath.
The development will replace an unused, raised paved area in front of wine merchants and wine bar Corks Out.
An outdoor sitting area to the rear of the premises already exists, as well as seating on the ground and first floors. The new development will provide additional outdoor seating.
Corks Out has been a popular local establishment for a number of years, but the front elevation of the Victorian building requires improvements and the new seating area will provide this, together with bi-fold doors replacing the existing front window.
Access to the new front terrace will be from inside the building only.
Approving the proposals, Warrington Borough Council planning officers noted there were already a number of businesses in London Road with outside seating at the front and that these had proved popular. Corks Out’s development would be on a smaller scale.
The work is to be carried out using reclaimed brick to match the existing frontage.
