Pupils join bag free campaign

LOW Carbon Lymm – the village group set up to encourage residents to reduce their impact on the environment – has enlisted local schoolchildren to help its cause.
The youngsters, members of the Princes Trust at Lymm High School – are helping in printing on linen bags to be handed out free of charge to shoppers on a “bag free Saturday” planned in Lymm in early May.
Local resident Su Williams worked with the children as they applied transfers to some 200 bags supplied by Warrington Borough Council.
Low Carbon Lymm has the support of local shopkeepers who will encourage customers to re-used plastic bags or use the purpose made shopping bags.
A spokesman for the group said: “We hope the bag ‘giveaway’ will make a bag free village move a step nearer to reality.
