Culcheth road closures confirmed for highway improvement works

WARRINGTON’S highway planners have confirmed up to five days of road closures on the A574 at Culcheth will come into force next week for highway improvement works.

The closures on Warrington Road, Church Lane and Charnock Road will come into force next Monday (October 24)  from 7 pm to 6 am to avoid daytime traffic disruption.

Warrington Borough Council has now made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of which will be as follows: –
Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: A574 Warrington Road from its junction with Culcheth Hall Drive to its junction with Common Lane.
Prohibition of Driving: Church Lane from its junction with the A574 Warrington Road for a distance of approximately 20 metres in a south-easterly direction; Charnock Road from its junction with the A574 Warrington Road for a distance of approximately 20 metres in a south-easterly direction.

The Order will be effective from 24th October 2022 for 5 days, between 7 pm and 6 am, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be; A574 Warrington Road via Warrington Road, East Lancashire Road, Newton Road, Winick Lane, Winick Link Road, Newton Road, Winwick Road, Lythgoes Lane, Manchester Road, Woolston Grange Avenue, Birchwood Way, Birchwood Park Way, Warrington Road and vice versa; Church Lane via Church Lane, Shaw Street and vice versa. The restrictions are required for Highway improvement works, carriageway resurfacing and road markings.
