Green Belt barn to be demolished to make way for new dwelling

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for the demolition of a Green Belt barn to make way for a new dwelling.

The scheme is in Stage Lane, Lymm – a short distance from the built-up area of Lymm and adjoining existing residential properties.

Warrington Borough Council planners say the new property will represent a sustainable form of development which will not have any unacceptable impact on the Green Belt.
It will be smaller and better positioned within the site than the existing barn and will have no adverse impact on the wider landscape character of the area.
The barn is not in agricultural use – it has been used for domestic storage for 14 years – has no architectural or historic merit and is a utilitarian and functional building.
By contrast, the proposed dwelling will be an excellent piece of contemporary architecture that will enhance the appearance of the site while reflecting the semi-rural character of the area.
