ROAD closures to introduce new traffic calming speed humps on Capesthorne Road, Orford, have been confirmed by Warrington Borough Council.

The closures will be on Capesthorne Road and Barrow Avenue for up to five weeks starting on October 31st.

The work will involve replacing a series of ‘thumps’ that highway planners say are not sufficient to reduce vehicular speeds adequately.
This has been backed up by video footage showing unsafe traffic speeds across the measures which may result in loss of control injury collision occurrence.

It is now proposed to remove the existing traffic calming measures in the form of “thumps” and one pair of existing speed cushions and replace them with more substantial traffic calming features of varying type.

For many years, the borough council says residents have expressed concerns about the existing traffic calming measures in Capesthorne Road.
