New Aldi store at Gemini will create 40 permanent jobs

A new Aldi store development on the site of the former Arnold Clark car showroom at Gemini will create 40 permanent new jobs.

The award-winning discount retailer has received the green light for its planning application for a new community food store off Europa Boulevard within Gemini Retail Park, Warrington.

Aldi is thrilled with the popularity of its stores in the local area. However, with its closest store to the proposal site, at Winwick Road accommodating more and more customers, Aldi shoppers are experiencing longer waiting times and a busy store.
The approval of its application for Gemini Retail Park will allow Aldi to transform the shopping experience for the local community, provide greater choice and regenerate a vacant brownfield site.

Aldi’s proposals received a huge amount of support from the local community with 120 public comments of support received during the public consultation in January 2022.
The application received approval at Warrington Borough Council’s Development Management Committee meeting last Wednesday (Sept 21) with seven out of the nine members voting in favour of the application.

Bryn Richards, Property Director for Aldi said: “We’re delighted to have received consent from Warrington Borough Council for our scheme on Gemini Retail Park and very grateful to the local residents who participated in the consultation.”
“The plans will see the vacant site redeveloped with a new, high-quality Aldi food store, customer parking, electric vehicle charging points and the creation of 40 new permanent jobs”
“We’re now looking forward to starting our initial work on the site with a view to open the store in September 2023.”
