A SPECIALLY-commissioned short film about the dangers of drug addiction is being shown in Warrington to help combat the problem of drug abuse.
Warrington’s Drug and Alcohol Team (DAAT) is showing the film “Desolation 2 Restoration” to help users become drug free and understand how their peers have overcome drug addiction.
DAAT worked with users from a recovery group and David McCollom from DMC Media to develop the innovative film about the struggles of drug addiction.
It follows a couple as they “lose themselves” in drugs, alcohol and crime but eventually see the error of their ways and strive to get clean and sober.
Cllr Roy Smith, the borough council’s executive member for health and wellbeing, said: “This is the first of six films to help tackle the problem of drug misuse.
“It is an honest look at the issue through the eyes of people who have been there and a highly emotional experience. I would like to congratulate everyone involved and to thank them for their hard work.”
The film will be shown at the Odeon, Westbrook on March 8 between 2pm and 3.30pm.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to show it at schools where there is a captive audience? How many are likely to go on the 8th?
