A REWARD of £30,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer who murdered Carl Chadwick at Warrington.
Police are hoping the reward will bring forward more witnesses – and justice for Carl’s grieving family.
Members of the family are also hoping the reward offer will help detectives track down the killer.
Popular Carl (pictured) – known in the Orford area as “Dancing Carl” because of his happy-go-lucky nature – was found dead at his flat on Grasmere Avenue, Orford on Saturday, January 29.
He had been stabbed and strangled – and police believe his killer was motivated by robbery.
He was known to keep a large amount of money in the house.
Carl’s cousin, Lisa McQuillan, said: “Carl was such a lovely man who wouldn’t harm a fly – to have him taken from us in such a violent way is heartbreaking.
“We know he was well known and liked in the community and I want to appeal to all the people who knew him to think carefully about any information you may have heard or know – even if you don’t think it is relevant, please just tell the police and let them decide.
“No one deserves to die the way Carl did but the only thing we can do for him now is make sure whoever did this is caught and punished.”
Police believe several thousand pounds may have been taken from his flat following his death.
Detective Inspector Nigel Wenham who is leading the investigation said: “We have spoken to a lot of people in the community and I want to thank them for the help and information they have given my officers so far. It is clear that Carl was well liked and a lot of people have been very upset by his murder.
“I am currently following a number of lines of inquiry and I am still convinced that the answers to finding out who killed Carl lie in the local community. The offer of this substantial reward may motivate someone to speak to me or bring forward more information from people who have for whatever reason not felt able to talk with police so far.”
The last confirmed sighting of Carl was in a local shop on Tuesday January 18 and police believe he died within a few days.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone that may have seen Carl on or after that date – their information could prove crucial.
A 32 -year-old man and 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and have been bailed until Tuesday March 8, pending further inquiries.
