Yellows held to draw ahead of FA Cup clash

WARRINGTON Town were forced to settle for a third draw in their last five league outings at Stafford Rangers on Tuesday night.

Isaac Buckley-Ricketts’ equaliser earned them a point after Joe Kenton had fired the hosts in to a second half lead.

The Yellows created plenty of chances but couldn’t find a winner.

It is their third 1-1 draw since they started the season with back-to-back wins.

Mark Beesley was once again without striker Jordan Buckley, who is sidelined through injury.

Captain Josh Amis did make an appearance off the bench though, as he continues to work his way back to fitness following illness.

Their next game is against Hyde United in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Yellows progressed to the second qualifying round with a 2-1 win over Morpeth Town last week after drawing 2-2 in the north east.

Hyde beat Warrington Rylands 4-0 in the previous round of the FA Cup and will be looking for a second Warrington scalp.

Beesley said: “Hyde are scoring a lot of goals and have got some good attacking players.

“We need to be on our guard because at home on their pitch, they are strong.”

It will be only the second visit to Ewen Fields in four years. Last season, the Yellows went down 2-1 in the league despite Stefan Mols firing them in to a first half lead.

Long-serving defender Mitch Duggan is due to make his first appearance of the season after serving a suspension handed down to him following his red card in last season’s play-off final defeat at Scarborough Athletic.
