Urgent notice concerning Grappenhall & Thelwall by-elections

AN urgent notice concerning the by-elections for the borough ward of Grappenhall and the Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council has been issued by returning officer Professor Steven Broomhead.

Following the announcement of a bank holiday for the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Monday 19 September, deadlines to register to vote for both the Grappenhall Borough Ward and the Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council elections have been brought forward by 24 hours. These new deadlines, which are pressing, are set out below and are in line with formal guidance from the Electoral Commission.

Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight tonight, Monday 12 September to be able to vote in this election. Applications can be made online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Town Hall, Warrington, WA1 1UH by 5pm on Tuesday, 13 September 2022.

A notice will be issued concerning any remaining changes in due course. More information about elections can be found at warrington.gov.uk/elections
The election will take place on Thursday 29 September 2022 between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm.
