Family pay tribute to “wonderful mum” following fatal collision at Birchwood

A FAMILY has paid tribute following the tragic loss of their wonderful mum and loving wife after a serious collision at Birchwood, Warrington.

The collision occurred at 10.09am on Tuesday 30 August on Ordnance Avenue, Birchwood at the roundabout by the fire station.
The driver, a 68-year-old man from Woolston, is recovering from his serious injuries in hospital.
The passenger, Hilda Broughton, 66, from Woolston, was taken to hospital in a critical condition but sadly died on Thursday 1 September.

The family said: “We as a family are truly devastated at the tragic loss of my Mum. She was not only a wonderful Mum but also a loving wife to my Dad, a doting Nannie to her grandchildren and a great friend. We would like to give our sincere thanks to the emergency services who helped my parents at the scene of the accident. We are also grateful to the hospital staff who cared for Mum and who continue to care for my Dad at this time.”
