Performance of the season

WARRINGTON Wolves’ Handball men’s team turned in what some are describing as their best performance of the season.
They faced high-flying Manchester University – two places above them in the men’s national league, division one – and beat them.
Wolves started the game as underdogs but, when it came down to it, were simply the better team.
They were quicker, stronger and smarter in all areas of the game, especially in defence. They conceded just nine goals in the first half which gave them a sturdy 14-9 platform to take into the second half.
In the second half they kept up the momentum and ended up winning 31-16.
To add insult to injury, the Wolves killed the university side’s hopes of a place in the play-offs.
