Forget the heatwave – Charlie’s here with a touch of Alpine skiing!

FORGET the heatwave – icicles and snow-topped trees greeted a European cup alpine skier when she arrived at a new housing development near Warrington.
Charlie Guest, the first British woman to win an Alpine European Cup, put families through their paces when she hosted a winter sports themed workout session at the development in Lowton.
Charlie, who specialises in slalom, who has been skiing since she was three years old , won the cup in in 2019 – despite a near career ending accident five years earlier which saw her fracture her spine.
She was invited to bring her own brand of alpine enthusiasm to the opening of a new Canterbury show home at Redrow’s Oakwood Fields development, as part of the housebuilder’s partnership with GB Snowsport.
The new show home was designed by Redrow’s interiors team, led by Alysha Ali, who took inspiration from Charlie, who grew up in a ski obsessed family, which also includes her sister Katie, a para-alpine skier.
The four-bedroom Canterbury show home includes vintage wooden skis, GB vests and even pictures of Charlie and her family.
“We were thrilled to have Charlie visit us here in Lowton, we tried our best to make her feel at home with icicles, snowy alpine trees and ice cream,” said Amy Bates, area sales manager with Redrow.
“Charlie loved the show home and got quite emotional when she saw how much detail had gone into putting her story into the rooms.”
More than 100 properties will be built at Oakwood Fields, offering a mix of three and four-bedroom homes from Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection.
Helping to making this an enviable community, Redrow will create areas of green space throughout the development, with footpaths and cycle-paths to connect residents to open land to the north and east, as well as playing fields to the south. And for anyone who wants to give skiing a go, the Chill Factore, in Manchester is less than half an hour away!
