POLICE were called to investigate a suspected deliberate grass fire close to residential properties at Orford.
Three fire crews were called out from Warrington, Penketh and Lymm at 15:18 to tackle the large grass fire covering around 100 square metres of grass off Grasmere Avenue. The fire, which is suspected to have been started deliberately and was in close proximity to houses.
A hose reel jet was used to tackle the flames and the surrounding area was dampened down.
Police were asked to attend due to the believed cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, in another suspected arson incident last night at 20:52, one fire crew from Lymm was called out to tackle a fire in woodland off Pepper Street, Lymm. A hose reel jet was used by firefighters to put out the flames.
The weather is getting hotter this week and the risk of fires remains.
