Fire crews tackle barbecue and grass fires

TWO fire crews were called out to tackle a barbecue fire at a property in Great Sankey, Warrington, while another crew attended a grass fire at Orford.

The barbecue took place on Belmont Crescent at around 5:15 pm and was attended by crews from Penketh and one from Warrington.

A fire involving a gas barbecue required firefighters to remove the cylinder valve to prevent gas from leaking. The crew damped down the surrounding area and barbecue.

In another incident at 5;50 pm one crew was called to reports of a grass fire on Cartmel Avenue, Orford, Warrington.
Firefighters damped down a grass fire and surrounding areas on Cartmel Avenue.
