Motorist arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving as person seriously injured in Bridgefoot collision

UPDATED: A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a road traffic collision on Bridgefoot, Warrington, last night, Tuesday following reports of a man being found unconscious.

A swift response by Warrington Police ensured that a significant amount of first aid was provided by officers who then assisted paramedics in treating the injured person, prior to being taken to hospital.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 22:40pm on Tuesday 12 July, police responded to a report of an unconscious man in the Bridgefoot area of Warrington.
Officers attended and found that the man had been involved in a collision with a black Toyota Prius.

“The man sustained serious injuries and was subsequently taken to hospital.
“The driver of the Toyota has been since arrested on suspicion of failing to stop following a collision and dangerous driving.
“The 49-year-old man from Bolton remains in custody at this time. Enquiries in relation to this incident are underway and pending further investigation.”
