PENKETH Carnival had a right royal flavour marking the 70th anniversary year of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee as thousands attended the “busiest year yet!”
Leila Dirir- One of the volunteer organisers from the Penketh Carnival Events Team, said: “Wow – What an incredible day it was!
“All the volunteers were completely worn out but content in the knowledge that the people of Penketh really enjoyed the day.
“We were blessed with glorious weather and it was the busiest year we’ve had yet. The atmosphere all day was fabulous! The laughter and buzz of excitement amongst the children (and adults!) makes the 7 months of hard work all worthwhile.
“Thanks need to go to all the volunteers on our small team who dedicate hundreds of hours in preparation of this event when some have full-time jobs to juggle also a big shout out to all the local businesses and tradesmen who helped us too. It’s no easy feat putting an event of this size without any funding and its only made possible because of the generosity of local people. “They all deserve a medal!
A wonderful afternoon in the sunshine at #Penketh Carnival enjoying the excellent Liverpool pipe band and a Viking re-enactment – great to see so many people out supporting local charities. #Warrington pic.twitter.com/ewQYI9j3U6
