A NINE-YEAR-OLD BMX champion from Culcheth is gearing up for his most exciting achievement – after being selected to compete in the BMX World Championships in Nantes, France, next month.
James started his hobby when he was just 5 years old and started racing in December 2020. Since he started he’s come a long way, ranking regional number 3 at the end of his first season and ranking number 1 currently this season -although he’s only halfway through so far!
Proud mum Helen said: “James won his first National race in Scotland last month and has been racing nationally for his first season this year and is currently ranked 2nd, with 4 more races to go this summer. His most exciting achievement is being selected to race at the BMX World Championships in Nantes, France this July which he is training very hard for.”
Bents Garden and Home are one of James’ kind sponsors and have supplied him with a new race helmet for the 2022 race season.
He is a year 4 pupil at Twiss Green Primary school in Culcheth.
Helen added: “His dad is a keen mountain biker and took James to Mid Lancs BMX club in Chorley, now his home track and club, when he was 5 to see what he thought of it and the love grew from there really.”
