TWO more incidents on the motorway networks around Warrington brought more traffic congestion to the town for a second consecutive day.
Shortly after 1pm three fire crews from Warrington, Birchwood and Penketh were called to a car fire on the Link road for the M62 east and M6 north near Croft.
The vehicle was well alight on the hard shoulder of a link road from the M6 north to the M62 eastbound. The crews used two hose reels on the vehicle which was well alight.
The slip road was closed by Highways Agency while the incident was dealt with and a large fan was used to divert smoke away from the M62.
Four miles of congestion were reported on the M6 Northbound.
Then Lanes 1 and 2 were closed on the M6 northbound between J21 and J21A near #Warrington due to a broken down lorry that leaked oil onto the carriageway. There were 5 miles of congestion causing 30 min delays above normal travel time.
All lanes have since re-opened but the impact of both incidents had a knock-on effect across the Warrington road networks well into the afternoon
