FIVE fire crews were called out during the early hours of this morning to tackle a large blaze at a commercial food production building on the Grosvenor Grange industrial estate at Woolston.

Shortly before 2 am crews from Warrington, Stockton Heath, Penketh and two fire engines from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the aerial ladder platform from Lymm were called to a fire at a commercial food production building on Grosvenor Grange.

The fire is believed to have started within an oven and spread into the roof space above. All personnel were evacuated from the building.

At 3:25am the number of fire engines was reduced from five to three as the fire now appears to be extinguished. An aerial ladder platform and light portable pump are currently being used to dampen down the roof space.

At 6:30 am Firefighters used two CO2 extinguishers and two dry powder extinguishers to tackle the fire. A thermal imaging camera was also used to check for hot spots. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately three hours and twenty minutes.
