A GROUND-breaking scheme aimed at getting unemployed teenagers – often branded as “hoodies” – into work is being launched in Warrington.
Transforming a Generation (TAG) aims to revolutionise how young people can break through their personal barriers, get jobs and kick start their careers.
A scheme spokesman said: “Developed specifically to help young people into careers in the health and fitness industry, TAG, which will create over 2,000 new jobs across the country in the coming year, is launching in Warrington on January 10.”
The six-month programme, aimed at young people who are not in education, training or employment (NEETS), will be launched at the Warrington Connexions Service.
It will help young people secure a Level 2 Health and Fitness Instructor qualification, enjoy a four month paid work placement and build a career in the health and fitness industry.
The spokesman said: “TAG will help young people break the ‘lack-of-experience-so-can’t-get-a-job-so-can’t-get-experience’ cycle by using its industry supporters to gain employment.
“TAG students will be learning through ground-breaking training and work placements secured and organised by TAG. Every young person will be provided with a dedicated mentor who will work with them from the outset on a 12-month Personal Development Plan that will help them to clarify and achieve their goals.”
