Large traveller encampment of more than 30 caravans vacates Victoria Park

UPDATED: A large traveller encampment of more than 30 caravans on Victoria Park, one of four recently reported in the town, has now left following a police notice to vacate the site yesterday, Thursday.

The illegal encampment arrived on Tuesday evening and was understood to have broken through barriers on the car park, locating at the far end of the park.

Cheshire Police issued the group with a notice to leave the site by 3pm yesterday or face further action.

It was one of four unauthorised encampments currently in the Warrington area.

Another encampment of seven caravans is also on Orford Park, with one caravan blocking a public footpath. The group that arrived on April 28 was ordered to vacate the site by yesterday morning, May 5.

Meanwhile, another encampment of seven caravans off Crab Lane, Fearnhead that arrived on April 28th has been issued with a court order to leave the site by 5pm yesterday.

A group of eight caravans that arrived on council-owned land on Lysander Drive, Padgate, on May 4 has been served notice to leave by 9am, 9 May.
