The Raven’s Return is already a winner!

CAMPAIGNERS who fought to save the Raven Inn at Glazebury have already backed a winner – aptly named Raven’s Return and now locals are being given a chance to have a say in the appearance of the historic building.

An eagle-eyed supporter noticed Raven’s return was running in a race on Easter Saturday and backed the winner – while facebook polls are being used to give locals a chance to have a say on how the building should look following renovation works.

Friends of the Raven Inn spokesperson Peter Sturman said: “After a long fight to save the Raven, the Friends of the Raven Inn are starting to see the positive results of their endeavours.

“The intention has always been to make the Raven a community pub. That is much more than simply a pub where local people turn up for a drink. It is about involving and consulting our community throughout.

“We have just held a poll on our Facebook page, to determine whether the external timbers should remain grey, or whether they should go back to black? Black was the resounding winner.

“One unexpected community collaboration occurred in the 1.09 pm horse race at Carlisle on Easter Saturday. An eagle-eyed supporter noticed there was a horse running called, The Raven’s Return.
Needless to say The Raven’s Return romped home in first place. At least one supporter backed the Raven as a winner – not for the first time.

All involved with the Raven ask everyone to gamble responsibly. This was a welcome bit of fun and, hopefully, a good omen,” added Peter.

The next consultation is in relation to the windows. All the windows will need to be replaced. There will be a number of consultations to determine the replacement window design.
The first question is:
Old design?
OR
Modern design?”
